As we go through our daily lives, many of us rely on Angels to guard, guide and lead us. J knows this and that's why J has drawn together a special group of men and women. They are the elite members of Archangel, a special agency that takes special cases. They rely on one another as backup, but each of them has another source of backup, their own particular "power."
Controlling the elements themselves, they work together to solve whatever mysteries come their way. If they find a partner along the way, that's a bonus. The only mystery they haven't solved is that of their employer. J is the biggest secret of all.
Gideon

Gideon Short needs all the help he can get. As a result of one careless action that didn't even hurt anyone but him, he's been sent to a "remedial" training session. The training is boring, the instructors are jerks, and the accommodations leave something to be desired. He's bored stiff until he meets the civilians. One in particular...who knew a school teacher would captivate him this way...they surely didn't when he was in school!
Laurel Spencer has been looking forward to this for months. A retreat to help her focus on her writing is just what she needs. Too bad the distractions are almost as tempting as the retreat's classes. Who knew a group of buff paramilitary types would be sharing the campus with the aspiring writers? Who knew that one of them would break the rules to get closer to her?
The trainees and civilians share a college campus with the civilians providing the perfect cover for the other activities on campus. Perfect until a group of radical extremists tries to take over the campus. Then it becomes obvious that some of the trainees are more than just aspiring police officers. Laurel isn't surprised that Gideon is one of the "more than" trainees. She's just not sure how much "more" she can take!
Gideon can weaken others around him by "borrowing" their energy, their powers if they have any. He'll use this ability to protect the civilians who come into his sphere, even if it means alienating the one woman he's felt close to in years.
Gabriel

Uriel

Uriel Kulikova is a computer genius. If it has a hard drive, he can work with it. His success with the opposite sex isn't any secret, either. Though he doesn't understand women as well as he does computers, he much prefers their company. This particular mission is right up his alley.
Corporate espionage isn't the only thing going on behind closed doors at a major company - murder is also on the agenda. A vice president has been found dead in his office of an apparent suicide, and an assistant vice president, Megan Carter, fears she might be next. She doesn't believe her boss committed suicide, she's sure someone else in the company is behind his death. She needs help, but she's not sure Uri seducing the answers out of another vice president is the best way to go about getting them.
For his part, Uri is more interested in the straight-laced Megan than her more obvious co-worker. Her quiet ways hide a very sensual woman and he's determined to show her the way she appears in his eyes. Though his primary focus is the mission, Megan is never far from his thoughts. If he has his way, she won't ever be more than an arm's length away from him.
Uri can bend liquid to his will and he'll use that to his advantage, causing coffee spills on computers, causing showers to behave - or misbehave - and knowing that she can't swim, keep Megan right where he wants her.
Raphael

Raphael Jones grew up hard and he grew up fast. He's always there when needed, but when the mission is over, he's the first one out of the door. Raphael's unique healing abilities make him wary of too much contact with those he works with. He's leery of getting too involved in their lives because he doesn't want to feel their pain.
He's never made a mistake on a mission, never stepped across the line to make things personal, he's never had a reason to...until now. Raphael has a passion for body art and for a certain tattoo artist. When she's threatened and her shop nearly destroyed, Raphael makes things personal and quickly discovers just how far across the line he can go.
Sami Walker has always marched to her own drummer. She's worked hard to make her shop respectable and she'll be damned if someone is going to take that away from her. Though her co-workers aren't sure about the secretive Raphael, Sami knows his demons - after all, she's put most of them on his body in the form of the artwork he brings her. She knows she can trust Raphael, she's just not sure she can trust herself to let go of him when this is over.

Lucien Wilton, like those who work with him, has never met his employer face-to-face.
